Juniors Dance the Night Away

City Hall Park was flooded with views of pressed black tuxedos and vibrant elegant dresses. Class of 2018 enjoyed an enchanted forest themed prom at the Community Center in downtown Brentwood.

Each student checked in at the entrance in lines separated by gender, the girls line bustling and the boys line remaining short and quick.

As the students enter the lobby they are greeted by twinkling lights, the dance floors entrance accented with vines and rustic chic mason jar decor. To the right of the entrance was the King and Queen voting table, with chalkboard signs elegantly accompanying the table next to pink roses and a vintage birdcage.

“Junior Prom was amazing this year. The delicate decorations really made it feel like an enchanting night. I appreciated all the work Erika (DeGuia, c/o 2018 president) put in to make this night so memorable,” said Alyssa Rohrer.

The enchanting dance floor emitted changing lights of vibrant purples, greens, blues and red shades. Each attendees sequins and crystals reflected the dancing light onto their dates jet black blazer. At around 9:30 the votes were counted for the prom King and Queen, Mady Sutton and Connor Chatterley.

“It was very cool seeing all the kids having fun but also the amount of work the class officers must have done. It was done very well and I am excited to chaperone next year,” said chaperone and underclassmen Biology teacher Mrs. Thacker.

Among the students, Mrs. Peddie hit the dance floor hard and fully embraced the excitement of the night. Some other teachers also chaperoning and dancing included Mr. Beyer, Mr. Bonnie and Mrs. Fav at the coat check.

Towards the entrance as the progressed, the dates went to get their pictures professionally taken by a photographer for as little as $10 a picture. The backdrop of white and pale pink roses and a vista escape in the horizon.

As with every dance, the most dancing comes later in the night. Heels came off, clutches and jackets were left at the table as dates fully embraced the end of the hardest Academic year and the start of their coming year as 2017-2018 Heritage Senior Patriots.
