Holiday Movie Haul
From charismatic talking snowmen in search of a little fun, to clever skeletons wishing to hijack the ways of Santa Claus, Christmas movies come in all different varieties. Holiday movies tend to vary in plot but all share a common thread of the joy, and warmth. The holidays bring these virtues to families and friends around the world, and movies often do a great job at portraying them.
“I’d have to say my favorite Christmas movie is definitely Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer. It’s a classic, it really reminds me of being a kid. I think it’s cool how it portrays the idea that your differences are what make you unique”, said Mariam Ramzi (10) when asked what her favorite holiday movie was.
“The Nightmare Before Christmas is great. Jack Skellington is so motivational actually… He wanted to try something new, and he did. Regardless of the outcome. Plus the cinematography is really nice” said Lena Egan (11).
“The Polar Express has to be my favorite. It’s so emotionally touching! So moving honestly” said Diojana Minguez (10).
Christmas movies tend to appeal to viewers emotions. Whether about a fat man in a red suit or a grown man convinced he’s an elf, Christmas movies reap many benefits. They teach appreciated values such as how to love and accept your differences, accomplish things your own way, step outside your comfort zone, and how others can impact your character. Regardless of the director, or plot watching a Christmas movie might do as little as boost your motivation to put some decorations up, or even invest some time in others.
