The season is here, Heritage Football league games are right around the corner with their first
league game on September 28, the freshman taking on Antioch away. Then on the next day JV
and Varsity take on Antioch at home.
This is Heritage’s 16th annual league football games. League football games are viewed as the
most important because they are against local rival teams, and it is the biggest factor in whether a
team goes to playoffs or not.
“Even when we’re coming from behind, we never give up,” said Mekhi Adanandus (11).
It has been an interesting start for the HHS football teams, with Varsity going 2-3, JV going 1-
4, and freshman going 3-2 heading into the league games. Football has been a struggle for
heritage because the local teams are some of the best in the state. But this year HHS has high
hopes of going to playoffs.
“They know that there not getting a push over when they take on Heritage,” said Mr. Roman
Head coach of HHS JV Football.
“Were improving every day as a team,” said Gabriel Kidd (12)
A huge part of football games are the surroundings and atmosphere of the game. It could even
determine the outcome of the game, and a huge part of it comes from the fans. When a huge
mass of students starts cheering on the team it gets the players on the sideline amped up, and the
players on the field see everyone cheering which gives them a reason worth winning for.
Football brings communities and schools together and gives people the opportunity to show
support for their high school. That is why when the local league football games come around,
HHS football players need the support the most in order to have a successful season. As you sit
under the football field lights and show your Patriot pride to the football teams, it is a reminder
of how much work they have put in this season to win and unite our school.
