Starbucks is well known for their cult following favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte, and their fall
menu is something dozens of people look forward to every year with their new and recurring fall
flavored items. This year celebrating the 20th anniversary of the pumpkin spice latte, they have
added some new items and brought back olds ones as of August 24th
The Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte, Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato and Iced Apple
Crips Oat Milk Shaken Espresso were all added this year with keeping the Pumpkin Cream Cold
Brew and Pumpkin spice Latte. Some new food items such as the Owl Cake Pop and bringing
back the Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin and the Baked Apple Croissant. Many were happy to
see new items this year but sad to see the pumpkin scone leave the menu.
With so much craziness around these pumpkin flavored drinks, Starbucks has started a buy one
get one free (bogo) day every Thursday of September in celebration of the new fall season. All
you have to do go past 12 p.m., download the app and order two drinks and add the coupon at
checkout.
“I love making pumpkin drinks but when Thursday rolls around I want to hind behind the
counter,” said Norah Razi (11)
Starbucks alone has its rush hours with tons of orders coming in super fast, but with this new
deal it’s been even crazier. They have been running out of types of milks, syrups and teas to
make the drinks and people are getting very angry at these shortages. Along with drinks, food
items have been selling out a few hours into opening.
These drinks may taste good but are they good for you? The Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai tea
Latte is 460 calories for a grande size and 570 for a venti size. Not including if you get any extra
cold foam or syrups. Health experts say you should drink in moderation this fall and not indulge
in these yummy drinks too much. There are many hacks out there to make the drink taste the
same with less sugar and calorie intake.
“To make the PSL a bit healthier, I’d skip on the whipped cream, and since it has a milk foam,
it’ll still have that creamy aspect,” said Eating Well nutritionist Maria Laura Haddad-Garcia.
If you’re not a big fan of pumpkin flavor, there are also some alternative fall tasty sips that you
can enjoy, like the Caramel Apple Spice is a steamed apple-juice drink topped with whipped
cream and a caramel drizzle. Though the flavor is very fall fitting it’s on the menu year around
and is a great option if you want something not pumpkin to get into the fall mood.
“The warm, gooey taste of apple crisp paired with a cup of coffee” creates the ultimate “cozy
beverage customers have come to know and love at Starbucks each fall,” said beverage
developer Billy Altieri.
Starbucks is always striving to be innovative with new menu items and deals. They will be
rolling out the fall themed cups and tumblers which have a lot of hype around them every also
selling out super-fast but have not come out with a release date yet for all of them.
