On the morning of August 11th, 2023, many seniors gathered together at the football field to
watch the sunrise. As they arrived, students found their friends on the field and talked, played
games, and took pictures while the sun rose.
“Of course I took pictures with my friends. My friends Brooks Davis and Conner Cabauatan,
they both have cameras, and they took some good pictures,” said Nathaniel Little (12).
Being the first senior event of the year, many seniors felt bittersweet about the event.
“I felt super happy because I was surrounded with the people that I love so much and that I have
been by for these past 4 years,” said Jenna Mazariegos (12).
This event was also an opportunity for students to reconnect with people they might not have
been in touch with recently.
“I was going in thinking I was just going to play with my friends and sit down and cherish
some moments but really I was just scattered across the whole field…I even talked to some
people I haven’t talked to in a while, so I think that was great,” said Little.
Willy’s Bagels and Blends catered the event, providing an array of donuts and bagels, as well
as orange juice and coffee.
“To make the event go smoother next time I would separate the bagel and donut lines to have
easier lines to manage, instead of everyone so clustered together,” said Nuhamin Aklilu (12),
who is Senior Class President and had part in planning this year’s senior sunrise.
Some students wished there was more food to supply everyone who attended the event.
“I couldn’t enjoy it because it was all gone in the first 10 minutes, but the donuts were pretty
good,” said Veronika Moskalenko (12).
Senior Sunrise prepared many students for the big year ahead of them as well as upcoming
events like Wake Island and the Disneyland Grad Nite.
