The world has been horrified by the deadly war currently headed by Hamas, a Palestinian group
which has ruled the Gaza Strip since 2007. The group is sworn to Israel’s destruction and wants
to replace it with an Islamic state.
The War with Pakistan and Israel has been an ongoing conflict for decades dating as far back as
the 1917. November 2, 1917, Britain’s then-foreign secretary, Arthur Balfour, wrote a letter
establishing Palestine to be a national home for the Jewish people. As the Jews were fleeing from
the Nazis the Palestinians were alarmed with all the changing of their Democratics and the fact
that the British confiscated their land and handed it over to the Israels. This was the start of the
ongoing wars between these two groups.
More recently, Israel has launched four military assaults on Gaza in 2008, 2012, 2014 and
2021 resulting in the death of thousands of Palestinians. This number includes many children and
tens of thousands of homes, schools and offices being destroyed.
“How come a Palestinian child does not live like an Israeli child? Why do Palestinian children
have to toil at any manner of hard jobs just to be able to go to school? How is it that when we are
sick, we can’t get the medical help the Israeli kids take for granted?” said Izzeldin Abuelaish, a
Gaza doctor.
Many in the Gaza strip are marching because of the bombing on the strip and fighting for
support for the violence Palestinians are suffering to end. The support to end the violence has
received global attention from people.
“Just sending medicines and relief goods is neither sufficient, nor is it the sole duty of the
world, particularly of Muslim rulers, but to stay the hand of the aggressor is the real task of the
world,” said party leader Sirajul Haq.
Gaza has been declared a humanitarian crisis calling out to the world for help with basic life
necessities that are being denied to the Palestinians. As fuel, water, food and life-saving medical
supplies continue to run out, the health system is in a state of total collapse.
“We do not have anything here, we suffer from insufficient water, clothes and food, we are
trying to cook anything for our children, situation here is really bad and devastating,” said a
resident at the shelter.
This situation is putting an extreme health risk on the 2.2 million people living in the Gaza
strip where almost half of them are children. These people are in desperate need of life-saving
humanitarian aid. With the situation having no easy or near solution the horrors will continue to
happen until the conflict between Israel and Palestine are resolved.
