Into The Woods takes a new dystopian spin on classic fairytale characters and stories. Many fairytales such as “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Cinderella,” “Rapunzel,” and “Little Red Riding Hood” are intertwined to create an array of leading roles and personalities that collide humorously throughout the play.
Dismuke has been part of the behind-the-scenes crew of Rising Stars since her freshman year. She loves this play and feels that everyone should go to a performance to show support to the students who have put time and tears into making sure this play is amazing.
“I admire ‘Into the Woods’ for its sense of dramatic irony. This fairytale does not have a happy ending and takes a more realistic approach to how each mystical character’s story ends,” Madison Dismuke (12).
“I have put in hours every day for months to study my lines so that I can be the best giant I can be. I feel like a really embody this role on stage,” said Ty Pennington, one of the lead actors of the play.
HHS Rising Stars have been working on perfecting “Into the Woods” every day for months. These students have been putting their all into making set designs, costumes, hair and makeup styles, memorizing lines, and acting. All of their hard work has paid off because viewers love the professionalism of the play.
“I went to the opening showing of ‘Into the Woods’ and I think that the play was well executed, and the passion of the cast was amplified through the attention to detail,” said Tife Fadaka-Soetan (12).
Fadaka-Soetan went to the opening night of the play to support her friends. She recalled the theater being well organized and the set being very detailed. She recommends this play to people who like action packed plays with plot twists every few minutes.
Viewers have commented that the quality of performance feels like a real Broadway production. It is funny but grotesque and lovable by all. To buy tickets please visit https://ca01001129.schoolwires.net/Page/21074.
