Taylor hits the charts with her brand new album, The Tortured Poet Department. Swift attended the 2024 Grammys, getting her 13th award, and announced the album release for April 18th. The cover of the record is a black and white photograph of Swift with her face not pictured and lying down on a bed.
To go along with the theme of the album, she wore a drapery white dress to the Grammys with black accessories. Swift fans went crazy on social media, raving about the new album, going as far as making cakes, tee shirts, and more for the release of the album.
“I’ve had a listening party with my mom and sister for every Taylor album since she came out with Red (Taylor’s version). It’s so fun having people there experiencing the new music with you,” Averi Millward (12).
People all over social media hosting listening parties at their homes and even events to share the Swifty love. In total there are 17 tracks on the record. On top that, Swift released a full second album, The Tortured Poets Department: the Anthology the next night after the first initial album drop.
Taylor is known for big surprises but this one passed all of them. To release two full length albums in the same week is insanely impressive and very uncommon for musical artists. Her album Midnights also got some bonus records, but over a longer period of time between each. Always leaving her fans with something new to put in their headphones, Swift makes fans happier than ever.
“I was so shocked the next day when she announced a full other album; I was so exited to listen,” Amelia Ceja (11).
In total with both the new albums she has put out 31 new songs. Swift never stops amazing the industry with her restless work on her craft. Who knows what she’ll do next, but we are all sitting on the edge of our seats to listen.
