Heritage Vs Pitt Highlights
October 14, 2016 marked a tough day for our previously undefeated Varsity Football squad as they suffered a 63-22 loss to league power Pittsburg High. The night was not a total loss, however, as the defensive line managed to rack up impressive numbers.
Heritage defense held their own against their adversaries, coming up with a total of 46 tackles, led by senior linebacker Devin Lance who earned a total of eight tackles.
Junior defensive lineman Jett Stanley (11) also assured that the Pitt offensive line would not have a fun night, coming up with two big sacks in the first quarter.
Senior defensive end Marcus Bustos (12) added another sack to Stanley’s two and recorded six total solo tackles.
Coach Clint Ojala gave defense credit.
“I think that we’re a very talented team on both sides of the ball, but our defense has been the holding force for this team as of late,” said Coach Ojala.
On offense, Nick Zell, a senior quarterback, threw for a total of 263 yards and rushed for 14, giving him a total of 277 yards on the night.
The senior Mack twins had an impressive game as well receiving a majority of those passing yards. Tyriq recorded 122 yards, and Tyrese with 80 of his own with one reception.
Tyriq also led the team in all-purpose yards, raking in a solid total of 124.
