Step into the swamp and be amazed, Shrek the musical has arrived. The Heritage Rising Stars program has brought Shrek the musical to Heritage after months of preparation and hard work.
The musical is being directed by the Drama teacher Mrs. Moore. She has spent countless months planning Shrek the Musical.
“I love how it brings our little theater community together because it takes so much to put on a show like this and the cast is so big the needs are so demanding,” said Moore.
“I think what I really like about organizing the show is it really bonds people together both the crew the cast and the parents really become a community,” said Moore.
Many members of Shrek the Musical are trying to improve communication, so it is simpler to prepare for the performances and get the costumes and props set. The actor playing Shrek, Andrew Briseno (12), believes communication is one the key elements to making a performance better.
“We need communication to improve some aspects of our tasks,” said Briseno.
In the process of getting ready for the musical the cast and crew both had a few setbacks and challenges. One of the main challenges that set back the cast and crew is the build-up of pressure towards performing their best by opening night. Even the villain Lord Farquaad, acted by Collin Lowell (12) feels the anticipation as the performance dates march closer and rehearsal days are long.
“The only challenge is just knowing however well my performance is mostly up to me, and only me,” said Lowell.
Everyone playing a part in the team is eager to give what it takes to leave an impact on the audience and school. Seth Pasamonte (10) is playing an ensemble character in the musical and is determined to perform fantastically as a tribute to the seniors graduating this school year.
“I want to leave a lasting impact on the audience, I want them to be able to look back and want to experience it again,” said Pasamonte.
Make sure to support the Rising Stars at one of their performances during the months of February and March. Check the flyers for the dates of the performances.
