Crowds of people roaming the streets all over the world, heads down, waiting for a buzz to detect a nearby Pokémon. Not knowing where they’ll be headed or where they’ll end up, players set out on an unknown adventure to possibly discovering a place they never knew existed. This famous game has been taking over everyone’s free time, but it may be coming to a surprising end.
Pokémon Go was a huge hit for the Nintendo Company allowing them to keep up with their competitors, Sony and Microsoft, but will it continue to be popular or will it remain a short lived trend?
Former Pokémon players were excited when hearing that the new game would be coming out because it reminded them of a piece of their childhood.
“I was juiced about it because I used to play Pokémon as a kid so it was almost like reminiscing my childhood,” Jaylon Pettis (12) explained.
Pokémon Go was the comeback of the year and it was not only popular in several countries, but worldwide. Opinions on this game, however, have varied. People either absolutely love it or people don’t like it all. A common complaint about the game is the amount of data it uses so that the game can have the virtual reality component. Other complaints are about the lack of Pokémon and the need for different species to keep the game interesting and to keep players on their toes. The dangers of this game has also become quite controversial, many cases contain disputes and violence.
“There are too many dangers when playing Pokémon Go and people aren’t as aware of their surroundings because they are so focused on the game,” exclaimed Jazmyne Duran (12).
On the other hand, Pokémon Go has its pros, like encouraging citizens to go out, explore their town/city, encouraging exercise and having people meet others who share a common interest. The games intentions are intended to be positive, although there are negative attributes.
“Although I am playing this game less and less each day, I would still recommend it to those who haven’t tried it out because it’s still an enjoyable game,” Jaylon Pettis (12).
All in all, the game was a huge success, timed perfectly with the summer season and users are still raving about the game and what’s to come.
