The city of Brentwood is currently starting to approve of some new stores and restaurants this
year. With plans for a new 155,000 – square-foot Costco approved in June. It will be built on the
vacant land south of lone tree Plaza Drive and east of Heidorn Ranch Road. Inside. The building
will include many other Servies like a gas station, pharmacy, food. court, optical center and more
“The concern that we get is that the Costco is going to come in and the traffic is going to be
unbearable,” said Commissioner Rod Flohr.
With the nearest Costco being in Antioch, many Brentwood member residents are excited for
Costco’s arrival. Costco’s real estate development director, Pari Holliday has said the Antioch
store is packed and leaving a big gap between both the Antioch and Tracy locations leaving the
costumers in the middle without a nearby location.
“Based on our membership data, we know that we have fairly hardy existing consumer base
her in Brentwood that substantiates the need for a new Costco warehouse in this location,” said

With new restaurant, Lazy Dog the dog-friendly food franchise, is sorting out design problems
with commissioners making its future in Brentwood unclear with new changing plans. The
Commission voted unanimously on Aug 15 to approve the new business. It’s supposed to be built
on the southeast corner of the Sand Creek Road and highway 4 across from the Streets of
Brentwood center. Conflict about the architecture of the building being too tall with their tower
like structure blocking surrounding views on Sand Creek.
Chairperson David Sparling says it is a signature piece to the building and is on all of the
locations. Saying it will. block the out close by views scenery. They are coming to some
compromises with the problem and hope to see Lazy Dog start building plans soon.
“Disappointed in the tower, but I understand why they’re doing it. I think the tower is a
signature piece for them they’re done their research and it’s their brand,” said Sparling
